Her experience working on policy issues for a global technology company provides her with a deep understanding of how to mitigate risk and educate policymakers about the responsible deployment of emerging technology. Before joining Invariant, Melanie served as the UK digital policy lead for Amazon Web Services, where she developed strategies to advance AI policy objectives. She also managed AWS’ advocacy with the UK government on a broad range of digital policy topics, including trade and export controls, competition policy, privacy, content moderation, and cybersecurity. Previously, she worked for the United States House Committee on Armed Services, where she focused on modernizing the military by incorporating AI and other emerging technologies.
